British pop group Simply Red is splitting up after more than 25 years together, the band’sfrontman Mick Hucknall announced on Thursday.
The group, known for hits such as Holding Back The Years and If You Don’t Know Me By Now, alreadyhas itsbreakup date the members willbe going their separate ways at the the end of their 2009 tour. Hucknall, 47, said the band has already recorded its last album, Stay, released in 2006.
Twenty-five years is “long enough for anybody,” said Hucknall in an interview with the Gold radio network in the U.K.
He said he plans to concentrate on his solo career and wants to “invent a new form of music,” influenced by R&B tracks from the 1960s.
“I just want to use my name from 2010 and try and explore something new that’s got a bit more of an edge and a little more drive,” he said.
Simply Red was formed in 1984 in Manchester and had their first hit in 1985 with Money’s Too Tight (to Mention).
They went on to release 10 studio albums, including 1987’s Men and Women and 1991’s Stars. The last three albums have been released under their own label.

I felt deep pity for those involved in the making in this film. I suspect criminals took their own families hostage to force these phones make this. Randy Quaid was probably over joyed to die with this film as well as the best acting was done by inanimate objects like balls and walls. To all involved in causeing this to be film... I am hoping your families were returned to you unharmed.... I show this to my 7th graders every year to get them pumped for your school bee. This film makes owning an educated vocabulary cool. If you're an sissy, wussy, wimp, prude or PC preaching idiot who seeks some deeper phony BS meaning in meaningless things… this is simply not for you. However if you are rational enough to imagine that humor is just humor and absolutely nothing more then you'll LOVE this routine. Nothing is off limits that's very fitting because in comedy, there is nothing off limits… given that it's funny. It is funny! I rented this movie impulsively, because the lead actor (Ioan Gruffard) is just one of my favorite actors from an old TV series in regards to the british navy, and was planning on be an okay moive... Instead I had been blown away due to the fact great this movie was, a rightly oiled plot with regards to a british statesman who's fighting one-to-many against parliment to outlaw the slave trade, and possesses a good supporting cast behind him, with interesting and well-developed characters. The storyline is somewhat factual and almost seems non-fiction, however it is not. With the flashbacks, it is difficult to keep on top of the present plus the past, but if you pay attention you may be fine. It is just a little slow following movie commences, but once you're involved with it, you'll be backing the source all the way! Great movie! This movie is indeed silly, that it's actually funny. I have always liked Army of Darkness. Thanks iTunes for providing it. To your person who gave a couple of seconds 1 star, you are probably just a "goody little two shoes, goody little two shoes!!"
