British pop group Simply Red is splitting up after more than 25 years together, the band’sfrontman Mick Hucknall announced on Thursday.

The group, known for hits such as Holding Back The Years and If You Don’t Know Me By Now, alreadyhas itsbreakup date the members willbe going their separate ways at the the end of their 2009 tour. Hucknall, 47, said the band has already recorded its last album, Stay, released in 2006.

Twenty-five years is “long enough for anybody,” said Hucknall in an interview with the Gold radio network in the U.K.

He said he plans to concentrate on his solo career and wants to “invent a new form of music,” influenced by R&B tracks from the 1960s.

I'VE had a couple of embarrassing tumbleweed moments recently. You know, when you make what you think is a perfectly reasonable comment or observation, only to be met by cold stares from those around you.

HUCKNALL AND CAPRICE SEND E-CHRISTMAS CARDS
 
Singer MICK HUCKNALL and model CAPRICE have shunned traditional paper Christmas cards in favour of sending Internet greetings in a bid to stay eco-friendly during the festive season.
The Simply Red singer's personalised card depicts his family as a group of green elves wishing friends a merry Christmas.
Model Caprice has also opted to send e-cards this year.
